In fact, according to the World Health Organization, cataracts cause 51% of blindness.

What Are Cataracts?

Cataracts take place when the lens in the eye becomes clouded which can lead to things like blurred vision. Although the majority of cataracts are caused by age, they can be caused by a variety of things like injury, inflammation, other eye diseases. As long as they are treated early on, cataracts shouldn’t result in blindness, but how exactly are they treated?

Intraocular Lenses

One of the most popular treatments for cataracts is intraocular lenses. During this surgery, we will remove your cataracts and then replace them. But how? With intraocular lenses (IOLs). Intraocular lenses are artificial lenses that will restore your vision by giving you back your ability to see again.
