NASRIN MANI, M.D. (FOUNDER)

Nasrin Mani, M.D., is an experienced, board certified Ophthalmologist, specializing in surgical and medical treatment of retinal diseases. She founded American Eye Associates in 1988. Dr. Mani continues the pursuit of excellence at the clinic through her leadership abilities and concern for excellent medical care.

MAJID MANI, M.D. (VICE PRESIDENT)

Majid Mani, M.D., is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with an emphasis in caring for patients with diabetes, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and glaucoma. He is the Chief Medical Officer of American Eye Associates and is known for his treatment of diabetic retinopathy.

WALID ABDALLAH, M.D., PH.D, FRCS

Walid F. Abdallah, MD, PhD, was born in Egypt and earned his medical degree (MBBCh) from Zagazig University. Thereafter, he completed his ophthalmology residency at Zagazig University in 2004, followed by a Doctorate degree in Ophthalmology in 2011. Additionally, he earned the FRCS in ophthalmology from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow, UK in 2011. Dr. Abdallah specializes in cataracts, glaucoma, and other retinal eye diseases.

ARNETT CARRABY, M.D.

Dr. Arnett Carraby is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist and fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology who specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of the anterior segment of the eye, with a focus on cataract surgery.

TAYSON DELENGOCKY, D.O.

Tayson DeLengocky, D.O., an associate of American Eye Associates, is a highly trained osteopathic physician with a holistic approach in treating eye diseases.

MEDI ESLANI, M.D.

Dr. Medi Eslani, MD, is a distinguished ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma, cataracts, and advanced anterior segment surgery. He performs a variety of advanced glaucoma procedures, including trabeculectomy, tube shunt implantation, and Micro Invasive Glaucoma Surgeries (MIGS) such as Xen gel stent implantation, goniotomy, Hydrus Microstent implantation, and OMNI viscodilation/trabeculotomy. Additionally, Dr. Eslani is an expert in handling complex cataract cases and premium lens implantations. Dr. Eslani is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, reflecting his commitment to excellence in patient care.

JESSICA GOMEZ, M.D.

Dr. Jessica Gomez received her medical degree at the University of California, Los Angeles. She served her internship at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. She continued her medical training and completed an Ophthalmology residency at the University of Minnesota. She completed a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Vitreoretinal Disease and Surgery.

COLIN IP, M.D.

Dr. Colin Ip is a board-certified, fellowship trained cornea, cataract, and refractive surgeon. In addition to treating corneal and external disease, Dr. Ip performs a variety of ophthalmic procedures with an emphasis on LASIK, PRK, ICL implantation, cataract surgery, pterygium excision, and all forms of corneal transplantation.

EMMA MCDONNELL, M.D.

Emma McDonnell, M.D., is a board certified Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. She specializes in adult and pediatric reconstructive and cosmetic eyelid surgery (i.e. Blepharoplasty), brow and forehead lifts, facial and orbital surgery. Dr. McDonnell is trained to diagnose and manage diseases of the eye socket and the lacrimal drainage system, and thyroid eye diseases, and to treat facial trauma and eyelid injuries. 

RUSDEEP MUNDAE, M.D.

Dr. Rusdeep Mundae is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained retinal specialist, dedicated to the comprehensive diagnosis and surgical management of retinal and vitreous diseases. His expertise includes advanced treatments for complex retinal detachments, macular diseases, diabetic retinopathy, and the repair of complications from cataract surgery including secondary intraocular lens (IOL) implantation.

GEORGE PAPASTERGIOU, M.D.

Dr. Papastergiou is an associate of American Eye Associates, and specializes in cataracts, refractive surgery, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

JAMES PEAIRS, M.D.

Dr. James J. Peairs is a San Diego native and joined American Eye Associates in 2018. He specializes in medical and surgical treatments for various vitreoretinal disorders, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, epiretinal membranes and macular holes, retinal vein occlusions, uveitis, and cataracts.

MAURICIO E. PONS, M.D.

Mauricio E. Pons, M.D., an associate at American Eye Associates, brings with him knowledge of diagnosis and treatment for patients with glaucoma and cataracts.

MARTIN RAJSBAUM, M.D.

Martin Rajsbaum, M.D., is an ophthalmologist who is highly experienced in glaucoma, pterygium, cornea, cataract, lens implant surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology.

AYHAM R. SKAF, M.D.

Ayham Rod Skaf, M.D., an associate of American Eye Associates, treats aberrant retinal disorders, and specializes in cataracts, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, uveitis, macular hole and macular pucker.

GREGORY A. STAINER, M.D., F.A.C.S.

AFSANEH AMINI, O.D.

Dr. Amini received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University California Irvine. Her education continued at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry. After relocating to San Diego, Dr. Amini worked at several optometric practices as well as a large MD/OD medical practice specializing in cataract surgery before joining American Eye Associates. Dr. Amini has specialized training in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease including glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. She also fits contact lenses, performs diabetic eye exams and provides top notch primary eyecare for her patients.

ANITA KOO, O.D.

Dr. Anita Koo is a board-certified optometrist experienced in primary eye care, surgical consultations and peri-operative care. Originally from the Bay Area, she graduated from the University of California, San Diego where she received her undergraduate degrees in Human Biology and Psychology. She continued to earn her Doctorate in Optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton.

QUEEN THACH, O.D.

Dr. Queen Thach is a board-certified optometrist with years of practice in primary care. Born and raised in Los Angeles county she graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles where she received her undergraduate degree in Psychobiology. She went on to earn her Doctorate in Optometry at NOVA Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and now resides in San Diego.
