Dr. Skaf Performing a Retinal Detachment Repair

One of the most rewarding aspect of being a physician is making a deep impactful difference in someone’s life. Being able to improve the quality of life of patients is a tremendously satisfying feeling. Dr. Skaf was able to do a retinal detachment repair in office using pneumatic retinopexy earlier today. We greatly appreciate our patients who trust in our talented physicians.

 

 

Dr. Skaf Performing in-office Air Fluid Exchange

Patient presented today with severe vision loss in the right eye due to Recurrent Vitreous Hemorrhage. Dr. Ayham Skaf has previously operated on the patient and performed vitrectomy. He removed the bloody gel from the eye which was replaced with fluid over time. Today, Dr. Skaf is doing in-office air fluid exchange procedure by pushing some air inside the eye and letting the fluid (blood) exit. With time, the body will replace the air bubble with natural fluid (aqueous humor). We are hoping vision will improve in the next few weeks.

Dr. Skaf Repairing a Macular Hole in the Retina

Dr. Ayham Skaf peeling an internal limiting membrane using dilute indocyanine green staining to repair a macular hole of the retina. A macular hole is a small break in the macula, located in the center of the eyes retina. The macula provides the sharp, central vision we need for reading, driving, and seeing fine detail. They can cause blurred and distorted central vision and is related to aging and usually occur in people over age 60.

Dr. Khandan Performing Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty

A patient complained of heavy eyelids and strain due to the excess skin in her upper eyelid. Here is Dr. Khandan performing Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty. As skin ages, it gradually loses its elasticity. A lack of elasticity plus the constant pull from gravity causes excess skin to collect on the upper and lower eyelids.
