Medi Eslani, M.D.

Dr. Medi Eslani, MD, is a distinguished ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma, cataracts, and advanced anterior segment surgery. He performs a variety of advanced glaucoma procedures, including trabeculectomy, tube shunt implantation, and Micro Invasive Glaucoma Surgeries (MIGS) such as Xen gel stent implantation, goniotomy, Hydrus Microstent implantation, and OMNI viscodilation/trabeculotomy. Additionally, Dr. Eslani is an expert in handling complex cataract cases and premium lens implantations.

Dr. Eslani completed his ophthalmology residency at the esteemed Shiley Eye Institute at the University of California, San Diego, one of the top programs in the nation. Following this, he pursued a glaucoma fellowship at the Shiley Eye Institute under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Weinreb, a world-renowned glaucoma specialist. Dr. Eslani was honored as a Heed Fellow, an award granted to fewer than five individuals annually in the U.S.

Before moving to California, he served as a university professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has over 60 publications in prestigious ophthalmology journals and multiple chapters in ophthalmology textbooks. His research focuses on stem cells for ocular surface reconstruction and glaucoma, cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. His work has earned him numerous awards and honors. Dr. Eslani is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, reflecting his commitment to excellence in patient care.
